Mumbai : Popular Assamese actress Nandini Kashyap, known for her role in the film Rudra, has been arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run accident that claimed the life of 21-year-old Samiul Haque. The incident occurred in Guwahati, where Haque—a student and part-time municipal worker—was struck by a speeding SUV allegedly driven by Kashyap.
CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts suggest the actress fled the scene without attempting to help the victim. Following Haque’s death, police escalated the charges from rash driving to culpable homicide and took Kashyap into custody.
The victim’s family claims that Kashyap had initially assured them she would cover Samiul’s medical expenses but failed to provide any support. Public outrage intensified after videos went viral showing the actress allegedly attempting to conceal the vehicle involved in the crash.
The case has sparked demands for stricter accountability from high-profile individuals, with citizens and activists calling for justice for Samiul Haque.
