Mumbai : In a landmark moment for healthcare and social service, Bollywood icon Anil Kapoor, alongside GJEPC Chairman Kirit Bhansali, Vice Chairman Shaunak Parikh, and former Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar, presented a ₹75 lakh cheque to Dr. Dharmendra Kumar, founder of R.K. HIV AIDS Research and Care Centre, at the Jio World Convention Centre, BKC.
The felicitation, hosted by the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), honored the NGO’s Guinness World Record achievement for conducting the world’s largest free general medical camp.
Expressing gratitude, Dr. Kumar said, “This support strengthens our mission to reach the unreached. No one should be denied healthcare due to lack of resources.” For over 20 years, his NGO has conducted free medical camps nationwide, including special healthcare camps for Bollywood workers, and distributed wheelchairs, reading glasses, and medicines worth crores.
Dr. Kumar also spearheads the “TV Mukt Bharat Abhiyan” in partnership with the Government of India, aiming to eradicate tuberculosis.
The event showcased the impact of public-private partnerships, bringing together leaders from entertainment, healthcare, and business to celebrate a shared commitment to national well-being.
