Amravati : A woman police constable was brutally murdered in her own home in Amravati, allegedly by her husband, who later confessed to orchestrating the crime over suspicions of an extramarital affair.
The victim, Asha Dhule-Tayade, 38, was found dead in her house in Wadali’s Gurukrupa Colony on Friday evening. At the time of the incident, she was alone at home. Her 14-year-old son, who returned home and witnessed two men fleeing from the back door, immediately raised an alarm.
Initially, her husband, Rahul Tayade, a constable with the State Reserve Police Force in Gadchiroli, claimed the crime was a robbery. However, police grew suspicious after finding inconsistencies in his statement. It later emerged that Asha had filed a complaint of domestic abuse against him earlier.
Upon investigation, it was revealed that Rahul had been plotting the murder for over a month. He hired two men to carry out the killing while he created an alibi by skipping duty. Under interrogation, Rahul admitted to planning the murder due to ongoing marital disputes and his desire to marry another woman.
Based on his confession and other evidence, police arrested Rahul and registered a case of murder.
