A disturbing video that surfaced on social media shows a second-year BA LLB student at Amity University, Lucknow, being repeatedly slapped—reportedly between 50 and 60 times—by classmates inside a car parked on campus. The shocking incident, which has sparked widespread outrage, took place on August 26 and was captured in a 101-second clip.
The victim, identified as Shikhar Mukesh Kesarwani, had returned to college following ligament surgery and was walking with the aid of a stick. In the footage, a female student instructs him to put his hand down (“haath neeche”) as she mercilessly slaps him on the left cheek. Meanwhile, a male student delivers further blows and issues threats.
According to the victim’s father, five students—Ayush Yadav, Jahnvi Mishra, Milay Banerjee, Vivek Singh, and Aryaman Shukla—have been named in an FIR filed on the basis of his complaint. While two accused, Jahnvi and Ayush, allegedly carried out the physical assault, Milay and Vivek are reported to have recorded the incident and disseminated it across campus, further adding to Shikhar’s trauma. His phone was also allegedly destroyed during the assault.
The aftermath has been devastating. Shikhar, the father says, is deeply traumatized and has stopped attending college. His father has called for stern action against those responsible, while the university is yet to publicly issue a statement on the matter.
