Pune : Police in Pimpri Camp, Pune, have arrested two individuals — an American citizen of Indian origin and an Indian national — for allegedly attempting to convert a minor to another religion.
According to the FIR filed by a local Sindhi resident, the American citizen had entered India on a business visa but was not engaged in any official business activity. Instead, he was allegedly involved in religious conversion efforts, which included influencing a minor.
Authorities stated that the conversion attempt was being carried out without parental consent, raising serious legal and ethical concerns. Investigators are now probing whether a wider network is involved in similar activities in the region.
Both accused have been taken into custody, and further legal action is underway under relevant sections related to unlawful religious conversions and visa violations.
