Mumbai : Bollywood actor Priyanshu Thakur, popularly known as Babu Chhetri for his role in Jhund (2022) alongside Amitabh Bachchan, was murdered in Nagpur after a violent altercation with a friend. The 21-year-old actor’s life ended tragically early Wednesday morning, shocking the film fraternity and his fans.
According to police, Priyanshu and his friend Dhruv Lal Bahadur Sahu (20) were drinking together at an under-construction building in Jaripatka when an argument broke out. The fight escalated, and Dhruv allegedly tied Priyanshu with electric wires before stabbing him multiple times with a sharp weapon.
Locals found Priyanshu in a critical condition around 3 a.m. and rushed him to Mayo Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The accused has been arrested and is currently in custody.
Priyanshu, who rose from a modest background, had earned recognition for his natural acting in director Nagraj Manjule’s acclaimed film Jhund. His sudden death has left the industry in grief, with tributes pouring in for the young actor whose promising career was cut short.
Police are investigating further to determine the sequence of events and whether the crime was premeditated.
