The video, originally from a press conference, shows Khan expressing concern for his family’s well-being and commenting on rising intolerance—comments that sparked a storm when first made and have now triggered fresh backlash.
As the old clip made the rounds on social media, polarizing reactions followed. While some users demanded Khan leave the country, others rallied behind him, defending his right to express personal views.
One prominent voice of support came from television actor Arjit Taneja, known for his work in Kaise Mujhe Tum Mil Gaye. Taking to social media, Taneja criticized the negativity being spread online and urged people to redirect their energy towards contributing meaningfully to the country.
“Keep your dumb commentary to yourself. If you really want to do something for the country, get off your phone and actually do it. Sitting at home trolling people for views isn’t helping anyone. PS: I love my country—but I choose not to spread hate. I’ll focus on what I can do instead,” he wrote.
Reactions to Taneja’s post were mixed. While many praised him for standing up for Khan, others questioned why he felt the need to get involved. “Why so much drama? It’s not even that deep,” one user wrote. Another said, “I really like Aamir, but people are blowing this out of proportion.”
