Mumbai: Seven men from Gujarat were arrested at Mumbai International Airport on Friday after being deported from Dubai for attempting to enter Luxembourg using forged Schengen employment visas.
The group—identified as Kaushikkumar Patel (50), Arthkumar Patel (25), Maharshi Patel (21), Prithvirajgiri Goswami (23), Bhargav Joshi (33), Krunalkumar Prajapati (25), and Mohammed Jed Husenkhan Pathan (26)—had initially traveled to Dubai on tourist visas. They planned to continue to Luxembourg to seek illegal employment using counterfeit travel documents.
An agent named Kisan from Gujarat allegedly provided them with fake Schengen visas and promised jobs across the 29 Schengen countries. Their plan was foiled at Dubai Airport, where immigration officials flagged their suspicious documents and sent them back to India.
Upon their arrival in Mumbai, immigration officer Vishnu Sawant detected irregularities in the documents, including missing security features and font inconsistencies, using ultraviolet inspection.
Following interrogation and confirmation of visa fraud, the Sahar Police registered an FIR. The Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) has been informed, and a broader investigation is underway to expose the full extent of the illegal visa racket.
