Tension Erupts in Thane as Shinde-Led Shiv Sena Targets Uddhav Thackeray With Controversial ‘Mumbai Mayor’ Banner

Thane : A tense atmosphere gripped the Tembhi Naka area of Thane city on Monday morning after a provocative banner targeting Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray was put up by supporters of the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena faction.
The banner, installed near the late Shiv Sena stalwart Anand Dighe’s office, featured two local Shinde faction leaders and a cartoon image beside a throne labeled “Mumbai Mayor,” with a cash box prominently displayed—seen as a symbolic jibe at Uddhav Thackeray.
Municipal authorities, accompanied by local police, swiftly removed the banner following protests from party workers. The banner is believed to be a reaction to the recent rare show of unity between Uddhav and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray, who shared a public platform after nearly 20 years in support of the Marathi language cause.
