National expansion, star presence, and brand partnerships elevate Maharashtra’s celebrated sporting league.
Thane, June 29, 2025 — Blending Maharashtra’s rich cultural heritage with the adrenaline of competitive sport, Pro Govinda League Season 3 kicked off in Thane with an exhilarating round of qualifiers. A total of 32 Govinda teams from across the state showcased remarkable discipline, coordination, and strength as they competed for a spot in the highly anticipated grand finale.
This year, the league enters a new chapter by expanding its reach across India through a national television broadcast and prominent brand partnerships, cementing Pro Govinda League as a mainstream celebration of the age-old tradition of Dahi Handi—now officially recognized by the Maharashtra government as an adventure sport.
At the end of the intense qualifiers, 16 top-performing teams earned their place in the finale, which will be held over three days—August 7 to 9, 2025, at Dome SVP Stadium in Mumbai. The qualifying rounds attracted a wave of public support and featured high-energy performances that reflected the perfect synergy of tradition and modern athleticism.
The event was further graced by the presence of Maharashtra’s Transport Minister Mr. Pratap Sarnaik, who came to personally encourage the participants. The crowd also witnessed the growing spectacle of the league, which continues to attract celebrities and top-tier sponsors.
The much-awaited team auction will take place on July 5 in Mumbai, where Govinda teams will be officially paired with their owners, setting the stage for an action-packed finale in August. The auction is expected to draw major attention from investors, sports enthusiasts, and media outlets alike.
Founded under the dynamic leadership of Chairman and Founder Mr. Pratap Sarnaik and helmed by League President Mr. Purvesh Sarnaik, the Pro Govinda League has evolved into one of the most awaited sports events in the state. With a growing national footprint, the league is poised to become a pan-India movement that celebrates culture through competition.
Speaking on the vision behind Season 3, Mr. Purvesh Sarnaik said:
“Our objective has always been to preserve the cultural soul of Dahi Handi while creating a professional platform for young Govindas to display their talent. This is more than a festive tradition—it’s a serious adventure sport that demands strength, discipline, and teamwork. A league of this scale not only empowers youth but elevates the business and cultural value of the sport, inviting brands, expanding audiences, and opening long-term opportunities.”
As Season 3 unfolds, Pro Govinda League remains committed to its mission of promoting unity, endurance, and community upliftment through a thrilling modern format. And this is just the beginning—the league is set to unveil its biggest celebrity ambassador yet, along with a galaxy of public figures and entertainers, promising unmatched star power and nationwide spectacle.
