In a concerted effort to ease traffic congestion and improve pedestrian safety, the City Police have launched a crackdown on roadside encroachments and obstructions. The drive, spearheaded by Police Inspector P.N. Bahure, is targeting unauthorized dumping and illegal handcarts on key city roads.
Conducting surprise inspections across several high-traffic zones, PI Bahure—accompanied by Havaldar Sunil Dandge and a team of ammaldars—visited construction sites and busy street corners where traffic flow is frequently disrupted. Builders were issued strong warnings against dumping construction materials along roadsides, a common practice that has been a major cause of vehicle snarls and inconvenience to pedestrians.
Street vendors, too, were cautioned against parking handcarts along arterial routes. Officials pointed out that such practices not only block lanes but also pose serious risks, especially to children, the elderly, and persons with disabilities navigating narrow footpaths.
PI Bahure has reiterated that repeated offenders will face strict legal action under the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. The campaign, launched in coordination with @SPNashikRural, is part of a larger push to ensure smoother vehicular flow and restore basic civic discipline on city roads.
Authorities have urged both the public and commercial establishments to cooperate in maintaining cleanliness and accessibility on public roads, warning that enforcement will now be swift and uncompromising.
