Mumbai, June 9 – A domestic dispute in Mumbai’s Worli area took a tragic turn early Sunday morning when a 62-year-old man allegedly shot his wife and later died by suicide.

The incident occurred at Pankaj Mansion in the Siddharth Nagar complex. According to the Worli Police, Rajmanohar Nampille, an electrician, lived in the apartment with his wife Lata (58), their 32-year-old son, and daughter-in-law. Investigators believe that ongoing family tensions—primarily surrounding the son’s decision to live separately, which Lata reportedly supported—had been a consistent source of conflict within the household.

Between 5:30 AM and 6:00 AM, residents reported hearing two gunshots. Police arrived at the scene to find Lata Nampille shot while sleeping in the hall. Rajmanohar was later found with a gunshot wound on the staircase of the building. A country-made firearm was recovered from the site.

Both individuals were taken to KEM Hospital, where they were declared dead on arrival.

Preliminary findings suggest that the shooting stemmed from a family dispute, but authorities are also investigating the possibility of financial stress as a contributing factor. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, and police are verifying how the weapon was obtained.

Neighbors told police that disagreements between the couple had become frequent in recent months. One resident noted that arguments often revolved around the son’s plans to move out and Lata’s support for his decision, which Rajmanohar reportedly opposed.

The investigation is ongoing.
