Mahim, Mumbai – June 6, 2025:-
In an effort to maintain hygiene and cleanliness during the upcoming Bakri Eid celebrations, the Solid Waste Management Department of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), G North Ward, has launched a proactive waste disposal initiative in Mahim West.
Officials have started distributing plastic bags specifically for the disposal of goat waste, aiming to curb the dumping of animal remains on roadsides and footpaths during the festival. The move is intended to promote responsible disposal practices among residents and ensure that public spaces remain clean and sanitary.
The timely distribution has been appreciated by local residents, with officials including Nilesh Bhoir, Neela Solanki, and Shyam Parmar receiving praise for their on-ground efforts. Several community members and social workers have echoed the importance of public cooperation, urging citizens to make use of the provided bags and refrain from littering.
This initiative is part of BMC’s larger, city-wide cleanliness drive during high-waste festivals, reaffirming the corporation’s commitment to sustainable urban sanitation and civic responsibility.
