BJP MLA Nitesh Rane has launched a scathing attack on the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in Maharashtra, boldly declaring the alliance “dead” and dismissing the political relevance of Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut.
Speaking to media in the aftermath of the 2024 Assembly elections, where the BJP-led Maha Yuti swept the state with 235 out of 288 seats, Rane didn’t mince words. “The MVA is finished. It only survived because the NCP played the role of a stabilizer. Now that the NCP has joined the NDA, there’s nothing left. Rest in Peace, MVA,” he declared.
Rane also accused Sanjay Raut of being politically obsolete, stating that he no longer holds any real influence in Maharashtra politics. “The NCP, which once backed him, has moved on. He’s just shouting into a void now,” Rane said.
His criticism didn’t stop there. Turning his attention to the Thackeray family, Rane alleged that their political moves are driven more by a desire to protect Aaditya Thackeray’s future than by any real ideological stand. “The Shiv Sena of Balasaheb doesn’t exist in their actions anymore,” he added.
Mocking Raut’s recent book publication, Rane sarcastically suggested a title for the next one: Hell in Matoshree—implying deep internal troubles within the Thackeray household and party.
These sharp remarks come at a time when the MVA, a coalition of the Shiv Sena (UBT), Congress, and the Sharad Pawar-led NCP faction, is struggling to find political footing after its electoral loss. None of the opposition parties were able to qualify for the Leader of the Opposition post in the Assembly, reflecting the scale of their defeat.
As the BJP continues to consolidate power in Maharashtra, Rane’s bold declaration signals the party’s growing confidence—and perhaps, the final unraveling of a once-unlikely but powerful alliance.
