Mumbai received light showers in the last 24 hours, with the weather slowly shifting toward monsoon mode. From 8 AM on June 2 to 8 AM on June 3, the city recorded 6.51 mm of rainfall, while the eastern suburbs saw 2.96 mm and the western suburbs logged 3.64 mm.
Skies are expected to stay partly cloudy today, with light to moderate rain possible throughout the day. The weather department hasn’t issued any official warning, but locals can expect scattered rain in parts of the city. It might not be a full monsoon blast just yet, but it’s enough to cool things down a little.
On Tuesday, the Santacruz observatory recorded a high of 33.7°C and a low of 25.5°C. At Colaba, the maximum was 32.2°C, while the minimum stayed around 26.2°C. Humidity remains high, hanging between 80% to 90%, making the air feel heavy and sticky despite the drop in temperature.
Meanwhile, the IMD’s latest monsoon forecast brings good news. Rainfall from June to September 2025 is expected to be above normal—106% of the long-period average, to be exact. Central and southern India, including Maharashtra, are likely to see healthy rainfall this season, while parts of the northeast may receive less than usual.
For Mumbai, it’s the calm before the real rains arrive. The umbrellas might just stay out a little longer this year.
