Mumbai, June 2 2025:- The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued evacuation notices to residents of 134 buildings across Mumbai, declaring them “extremely dangerous” ahead of the upcoming monsoon season.
These buildings are primarily located in Bandra West, Santacruz West, Malad, Malvani, Andheri East, Jogeshwari East, Ghatkopar, Vidyavihar, Versova, Juhu, Borivali, Goregaon, Bandra East, Khar East, Girgaon, Malabar Hill, Mahim, Shivaji Park, Kurla, and Sakinaka.
As part of its annual pre-monsoon safety measures, the BMC conducts structural audits of old buildings. Those found structurally unsafe are marked for immediate evacuation. Non-compliant residents may face disconnection of essential services like water, electricity, and sewage.
Under Section 353B of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act, 1888, structural audits are compulsory for buildings older than 30 years. The BMC has published the complete list on its official website: www.mcgm.gov.in.
Residents are urged to vacate affected premises as a precautionary measure to avoid life-threatening risks during heavy rains.
