Nagpur, May 30, 2025 — A chilling case of suspected domestic violence has surfaced from Bhimnagar in MIDC police limits, where a 41-year-old man allegedly strangled his estranged wife and attempted to cover it up as a natural death.

The victim, Sheetal Johnson Mandpe, 39, was found dead in her home on May 22. Her husband, Johnson Mandpe, initially claimed she had died of a heart attack. But when Sheetal’s relatives arrived, they noticed injuries, scratch marks, and bloodstains, raising immediate suspicion.

The couple had reportedly been separated for seven years due to ongoing domestic issues and have two children. At the time of her death, Sheetal was alone at home.

Authorities ordered a postmortem, which confirmed death due to strangulation. Following the report, MIDC police registered a case of murder against Johnson, who is now absconding. A manhunt is underway to track him down.

Police are also investigating the motive behind the crime and whether there were any previous records of domestic abuse. The case has sparked outrage in the community and renewed calls for stronger safeguards against domestic violence.

Anyone with information on Johnson Mandpe’s whereabouts is urged to contact local authorities immediately.
