She Had Accused Him of Emotional Abuse and Pressure to Have an Abortion

Mumbai, May 28, 2025 — A woman who had earlier accused Siddhant Shirsat, the son of Maharashtra minister Sanjay Shirsat, of mental and physical harassment has now taken back her complaint. She said it is a personal matter and she does not want to continue with it.

Through her lawyer, she said that she met Siddhant in 2018 and got married to him in 2022. The two were living together in Chembur, Mumbai. She said she became pregnant during their marriage, but was forced to have an abortion. She also said Siddhant mentally harassed her and did not allow her to visit his family’s home in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.

She claimed that Siddhant told her not to tell anyone about their marriage. He was worried it would harm his family’s public image. She also said she had gone to the police, but they did not help her. She believes it was because of her husband’s father’s political power.

The case got public attention when social activist Anjali Damania asked the minister and the chief minister to speak about the matter.

Now, the woman has decided to stop the case. She said:

“This is my personal life. I don’t want to take this further. I ask everyone not to make this a political issue.”

Siddhant Shirsat has not yet spoken about the case.
