Robbery Accused Amol Khotkar Shot Dead in Police Encounter

Amol Khotkar, a key suspect in a high-profile robbery in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar’s Bajaj Nagar area, was killed late Monday night in a police encounter. Khotkar was the sixth accused in the robbery at the home of a prominent businessman and was reportedly in possession of stolen valuables.

Acting on a tip-off, the Crime Branch tracked him to the Vadgaon Kolhati area in Waluj. When a police team, led by an Assistant Police Inspector, attempted to arrest him, Khotkar allegedly tried to flee in a vehicle. During the escape, he rammed his car into the officers, injuring one of them, and then opened fire with a revolver. Police retaliated, and Khotkar was fatally shot.

Authorities confirmed his death but withheld further details, fueling public curiosity—especially after recent remarks by Guardian Minister Sanjay Shirsat, who had hinted at possible police involvement in the robbery. With five other suspects already in custody, all eyes are now on whether the police will release an official account of the encounter.
