Cyclone Shakti: IMD Issues Red Alert for Konkan, Orange Alert for Mumbai

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red alerts for coastal districts of Maharashtra and Goa, including Konkan, due to a low-pressure system over the east-central Arabian Sea. The system is expected to intensify into a depression within 36 hours, bringing very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall from Friday through the weekend. Mumbai is under an orange alert, anticipating significant rainfall and strong winds. Fishermen are advised to avoid venturing into the sea, and residents are urged to stay updated and take necessary precautions.
