News: On his final day as Chief Justice of India, Justice Sanjiv Khanna reflected on the key moments of his legal journey, the challenges he faced, and his accomplishments during a farewell address. He emphasized that true strength lies in putting the institution’s interests above the pursuit of external approval.

Justice Khanna will be succeeded by Justice B.R. Gavai, who is scheduled to be sworn in on Wednesday, May 14.

In his farewell speech, delivered at an event hosted by the Supreme Court Bar Association, Justice Khanna acknowledged the heavy responsibilities and constant public scrutiny that come with the role of Chief Justice. He shared that maintaining a focus on both judicial duties and administrative responsibilities helped him navigate these demands effectively.

“True strength,” he noted, “lies in fulfilling one’s responsibilities with calmness and integrity, always placing the institution’s welfare above all else.”
