A 66-year-old murder accused, who had been evading arrest for 15 years, was apprehended by the police from Palghar district, Maharashtra, on Tuesday, reported news agency PTI.
According to police officials, Santosh Dehu Kurhade was arrested last week in Wada based on a tip-off. The arrest was made by the Thane Rural Police under the supervision of Superintendent Dr. D S Swami.
Kurhade was wanted in connection with the murder of Suresh Ravji Wagh, who was beaten to death on June 5, 2009. The police stated that Kurhade, along with two other individuals, had attacked Wagh following a dispute.
An FIR had been lodged against Kurhade under sections 302 (murder), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt with dangerous weapons/means), and 504 (intentional insult to provoke a breach of peace) of the Indian Penal Code.
