Police in Maharashtra’s Thane district arrested three individuals and seized nearly 3 kilograms of ganja following late-night raids on Friday in the Yewai Naka area of Bhiwandi, a senior official confirmed.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team conducted targeted raids at three establishments, Senior Inspector Vilas L. Kadam told PTI. During the operation, officers confiscated 2.9 kg of ganja valued at approximately ₹59,000 and recovered ₹3.11 lakh in cash from the accused. A case has been registered against all three under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

In a separate and larger operation, the Mumbai Police’s Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) seized narcotics worth ₹5.8 crore and arrested three men following raids conducted over the past two days across various city locations, officials said.

The ANC’s Azad Maidan, Ghatkopar, and Worli units led the crackdown, targeting areas in Powai, Oshiwara, and Dadar. The Azad Maidan unit seized 108 grams of MD (Mephedrone) valued at ₹21.6 lakh. Meanwhile, the Ghatkopar unit recovered 2.040 kg of high-grade “hydraulic weed,” a potent form of cannabis, worth ₹2.04 crore. The Worli unit seized 3.55 kg of the same substance, estimated at ₹3.55 crore.

All three accused in the Mumbai operation were booked under relevant sections of the NDPS Act. Authorities said further investigations are underway in both cases to uncover potential links to larger drug networks.
