For the first time in nearly a week, residents of the Kashmir Valley experienced a night of relative peace, free from the sound of drones, aircraft, or missile fire. Officials confirmed that no ceasefire violations were reported along the Line of Control (LoC) in the region after 11 p.m. on Saturday.
“There was no ceasefire violation reported from any sector along the LoC in Kashmir overnight,” an official said, offering a glimmer of hope after days of heightened tension and cross-border hostilities.
The lull in conflict brought much-needed relief to residents who had been living under constant threat. Shahjahan Dar, a resident of Rawalpora, expressed the collective relief of many in the region: “It has been a while since we slept well. We are thankful to the Almighty and to everyone who contributed in bringing about this pause in the violence.”
However, the sense of calm remains fragile. Thousands who had fled from vulnerable border areas to safer locations remain hesitant to return. Many say they will wait a few more days to ensure that the truce holds before making the journey back to their homes.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, even as the people of Kashmir cautiously embrace a night of silence and hope for more to come.
