IPL 2025: Punjab Kings vs Mumbai Indians Match Shifted From Dharamsala To Mumbai After Operation Sindoor

In a major development, the IPL 2025 match between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians has been moved from Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh, to Mumbai in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor. The game, originally scheduled for May 11 at the HPCA Stadium, will now be held in Mumbai. However, according to BCCI sources, the match will not be played at the Wankhede Stadium—Mumbai Indians’ home ground.

The BCCI is also in constant contact with the central government to seek clarity on the status of another IPL match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals, scheduled for May 8, also in Dharamsala.

Given Dharamsala’s proximity to the India-Pakistan border—just 60 km away—authorities raised concerns about hosting over 20,000 spectators under floodlights amid elevated tensions between the two nations.

Following the strikes, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu convened a high-level security meeting in Shimla.

“We are proud of the Indian Army. The people of Himachal Pradesh stand with the nation in giving a befitting reply to the terrorists who killed innocent people in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir,” the Chief Minister said.

Security has been heightened, and officials—including district commissioners and police superintendents—especially in border districts, have been directed to remain on high alert. Surveillance and intelligence gathering capabilities are also being strengthened.

Himachal Pradesh shares a 240 km border with China in the Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti districts. In line with security directives, public gatherings have been discouraged. The Chief Minister canceled his public programs for the day, noting that instructions have been issued to avoid large crowds.

“Awareness and vigilance are key to ensuring that no untoward incident occurs,” Sukhu said.
