Aaditya Thackeray Criticizes Fadnavis-Led Government Over Environmental Neglect

Mumbai :- Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray has strongly criticized the Maharashtra government under Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, accusing it of neglecting environmental protection and rolling back key green initiatives.
Thackeray, who previously served as the state’s environment minister, alleged that the current administration has abandoned sustainable development goals, resulting in increased deforestation, pollution, and damage to the state’s natural ecosystems. He said the government’s focus on industrial and infrastructure expansion has come at the cost of ecological balance.
Our Maha Vikas Aghadi government had initiated major efforts in environmental protection, but many of those measures have been sidelined or stalled,” Thackeray stated. He cited delays in urban tree plantation programs and coastal preservation projects as evidence of the government’s lack of commitment to environmental issues.
The BJP-led government has not yet issued a response. Meanwhile, several environmental groups have backed Thackeray’s statements, calling for stronger enforcement of environmental regulations.
These remarks come as Maharashtra faces increasing public concern over climate change, pollution, and sustainable development, which are expected to play a significant role in the forthcoming elections.
