Mumbai :- Maharashtra Day, locally known as Maharashtra Din, was celebrated with enthusiasm across the state on Thursday, marking 65 years since the state’s formation on May 1, 1960. The day honors the creation of Maharashtra following the linguistic reorganization of Indian states.
Ceremonial Tributes and Cultural Showcases
The focal point of the celebrations was Shivaji Park in Mumbai, where Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Governor Ramesh Bais hoisted the state flag and paid homage to the martyrs of the Samyukta Maharashtra Movement. Audiences were captivated by vibrant cultural performances, including traditional Lavani and Povada dances, along with regional folk music that highlighted Maharashtra’s cultural richness.

Across the state, citizens took part in a range of activities—from rallies and essay contests to street plays that recounted Maharashtra’s historical journey.
