Mumbai Fire Brigade Deploys High-Tech Fire Robot to Tackle Massive Blaze at Bandra’s Croma Showroom

Mumbai : — In a major firefighting operation on Tuesday morning, the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) deployed advanced robotic technology to combat a massive blaze that broke out in the basement of the Croma showroom at Link Square Mall, Bandra (West).
The fire, reported at 4:11 AM, quickly escalated, prompting authorities to declare it a Level-IV fire by 6:25 AM. The fire originated in one of the three basement levels of the G+3 mall and led to heavy smoke accumulation throughout the structure, severely reducing visibility.
To manage the dangerous conditions, MFB deployed a high-tech firefighting robot—identified as “Robert-02.” Equipped with thermal cameras, sensors, and high-pressure water nozzles, the robot navigated the hazardous, smoke-filled environment and sprayed water precisely on the affected areas, reducing risks to human firefighters.
Over a dozen fire engines, hydraulic platforms, and 12 motor pumps were mobilized. Multiple agencies, including the BMC, Mumbai Police, Adani Electricity, and the Public Works Department, joined efforts to contain the blaze.
Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported. Firefighting operations extended well into the morning, and an investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the fire.
Officials noted that the deployment of robotic technology marks a significant step in modernizing Mumbai’s emergency response systems.
