Mumbai : In a decisive move to address a growing civic issue, journalist Sadiya Merchant convened an emergency meeting today between residents of Zakariya Masjid Street and officials from the BMC B-Ward Water Department
.
The meeting was prompted by a critical water shortage that has left residents grappling without a consistent supply for over two months.
Frustrated locals attended in significant numbers, highlighting the severe hardships they have faced, including the need to purchase bottled water for basic needs like cooking, drinking, and performing wuzu (ablution) for daily prayers—exacerbating financial strain on many households.
Spearheading the residents’ concerns, Sadiya Merchant presented the gravity of the situation to BMC officials. In response, representatives from the B-Ward Water Department assured residents that immediate steps would be taken to rectify the supply issues.
