Dombivli : In a major breakthrough, the Dombivli Police have arrested members of an inter-state robber gang who disguised themselves as sadhus (holy men) to deceive and loot their victims. The gang, active across multiple states, targeted unsuspecting individuals, exploiting their trust in religious attire.
Modus Operandi
The accused would dress as sadhus, approach people seeking blessings, and then rob them of cash, jewellery, and other valuables. Police investigations revealed that the gang operated in Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Rajasthan, changing locations frequently to avoid detection.
How the Gang Was Caught
The Dombivli Police received multiple complaints about robberies involving fake sadhus. After analyzing CCTV footage and conducting raids, the police successfully apprehended the suspects. Stolen goods worth lakhs of rupees were recovered from their possession.
Police Statement
A senior police officer stated, “The gang used religious disguises to gain people’s trust before committing crimes. We urge citizens to remain cautious and report any suspicious activity.”
