Mumbai :- The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is set to bring Tahawwur Rana, a key conspirator in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, to India today. Rana, a Pakistani-Canadian businessman, was arrested in the United States and has been facing extradition proceedings for his role in the deadly attacks that killed 166 people.
Rana, a close associate of David Coleman Headley, another prime accused in the case, allegedly helped plot the 26/11 attacks by providing logistical support to the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists. After a lengthy legal battle, the US authorities approved his extradition to India, where he will face trial.
An NIA team has been deployed to escort Rana back to India. His arrival marks a significant step in India’s efforts to bring all perpetrators of the Mumbai attacks to justice. The agency is expected to interrogate him for further details on the conspiracy and his connections with terrorist networks.
The 2008 Mumbai attacks, carried out by 10 LeT terrorists, targeted multiple locations, including the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, and a Jewish center, leaving a deep scar on the nation. Rana’s extradition is seen as a major victory in India’s fight against terrorism.
More updates are awaited as Rana is brought to India for prosecution.
