In a major crackdown, the Central Railway Vigilance team has exposed and dismantled an illegal Pay & Park operation at Kalwa (West), days after the official parking contract ended on October 24.
During a covert operation on November 22, a vigilance officer, disguised as a customer, paid ₹100 to park a scooty and was issued a fake railway receipt. The team immediately intervened, seizing the unauthorized setup and handing over two individuals to the Railway Protection Force (RPF).
The operation uncovered large-scale illegal parking on railway land, with an estimated 300–400 two-wheelers, 70–80 auto-rickshaws, and 30–40 four-wheelers parked without authorization. Officials also found that the mandatory “Free Parking” notice was missing and that 2,184 sq. meters of railway property had been misused.
Authorities are now investigating the extent of money collected through a Paytm QR sound box used at the site.
