Mumbai : Filmmaker Karan Johar has confirmed the heartbreaking news of veteran actor Dharmendra’s passing, calling it an irreplaceable loss for Indian cinema. While the Deol family is yet to release an official statement, Johar mourned the legendary star with an emotional tribute on Instagram.
Karan Johar, who directed Dharmendra in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani, described his death as “the end of an era.” Sharing a heartfelt note alongside a picture of the actor, Johar praised Dharmendra as a “massive megastar,” the “embodiment of a hero,” and a “bonafide legend of Indian cinema.”
Reflecting on the actor’s unmatched charm and legacy, Johar wrote that Dharmendra’s presence has been deeply woven into the history of Indian cinema. He added that beyond being an icon, Dharmendra was a remarkable human being who was loved by everyone in the film industry.
Johar expressed profound grief, saying, “His blessings, his hug, and his incredible warmth will be missed more than words can describe. Today, there is a gaping hole in our industry — a space that can never be filled.”
Calling Dharmendra “the one and only Dharamji,” Johar concluded his tribute with the emotional line, “Abhi na jao chhod kar… ke dil abhi bhara nahi… OM SHANTI.”
