Mumbai : Commuters traveling between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai are poised for major relief as the Airoli–Katai Naka Tunnel enters its final phase of construction. The 1.7 km twin-tube tunnel, carved through the Parsik Hills, is expected to become operational by FY26, significantly improving East–West connectivity across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
Once opened, the tunnel will link Airoli, Mulund, Palava, and Dombivali, reducing travel time to just 20 minutes. The improved connectivity is also projected to fuel real estate demand, with experts anticipating up to a 20% rise in home sales and property prices in rapidly developing suburbs such as Dombivali and Kalyan.
The tunnel is considered a key infrastructure milestone that will further strengthen mobility and regional development across MMR.
