Mumbai : The Cuffe Parade Police have successfully dismantled a cyber fraud racket that duped citizens by sending fake e-challan links in the name of the Maharashtra Traffic Police.
According to officials, the gang accessed victims’ mobile phones through bogus links and siphoned money from their bank accounts. In one such case, the fraudsters withdrew ₹99,680 from a complainant’s account and transferred the amount across multiple bank accounts to evade detection.
Acting swiftly, the police arrested four members of the syndicate and uncovered a network involving fake bank accounts, mobile SIM cards, ATM transactions, and layered money trails.
Authorities have initiated strict action against the cyber gang involved in deceiving unsuspecting citizens. A search is underway to trace other accused individuals connected to the racket.
