Mumbai :- Mulund Police have busted a fake international call centre operating from a rented apartment in Mulund Colony, Mulund West. The racket was allegedly run by Sagar Gupta along with his associates, who posed as loan officers from Lending Point to cheat citizens in the US and Canada through phishing calls and messages.
According to police, the accused lured victims by offering quick loans and then fraudulently collected money through gift cards and cryptocurrency. The proceeds were later converted into Indian currency with the help of Prashant Rajput from Surat, who is currently under investigation.
During the raid, officers seized 2 laptops, 11 mobile phones, 2 routers, and ₹76,000 cash from the fake call centre. A case (CR No. 1032/2025) has been registered against Sagar Gupta, Abhishek Singh, Tanmay Dhadsing, Shailesh Shetty, and Rohan Mohammad Ansari under relevant sections of the BNS 2023 and IT Act.
All five accused have been arrested, and the apartment used for the fraud has been sealed as the investigation continues.
