Kalyan: The much-awaited Kalyan–Dombivli Ring Road project is set to make rapid progress as officials have confirmed that the land acquisition process will be completed within the next seven months.

Municipal Commissioner Abhinav Goyal, along with senior officials, recently inspected the project site and reviewed the status of ongoing work. The ring road, being developed by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), is divided into eight phases to improve connectivity and ease traffic congestion in the twin cities.

According to officials, work on Phases 4 to 7 — between Durgadi and Titwala — is over 80% complete, while concreting of Phase 3 (Motha Gaon to Durgadi) is expected to be finished within the next two months. For Phases 1, 2, and 8, the land acquisition process is actively underway, involving both railway and private properties.

Commissioner Goyal said that once the remaining land is acquired, it will be handed over to MMRDA for immediate construction. The completion of the project is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion, cut fuel consumption, and lower pollution levels in the Kalyan–Dombivli region.

So far, about 50% of the required land has been acquired, and authorities are expediting efforts to secure the rest within the stipulated time frame.
