Mumbai, October 31: Advocate Shagaf Taraporewala has called on Mumbai Metro authorities to rename the Mahim Station on the newly inaugurated Aqua Line Underground Metro after the revered Sufi saint Hazrat Makhdoom Shah Mahimi (R.A.).

Adv. Taraporewala said that metro station names should represent Mumbai’s cultural and spiritual legacy, adding that Mahim holds special historical and religious importance as the site of the centuries-old Dargah of Hazrat Mahimi (R.A.).

He noted that naming the station in honour of the saint would reflect Mumbai’s inclusive and syncretic traditions, while also paying tribute to spiritual figures who have championed peace, harmony, and compassion.

> “Infrastructure should progress with culture, not apart from it,” said Adv. Shagaf Taraporewala, stressing the need to align modern development with the city’s rich heritage.
