Mumbai : The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has undertaken the decoration and development work of the Mahalakshmi Temple area, one of Mumbai’s major centers of devotion.

Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Shri Bhushan Gagrani personally visited the Mahalakshmi Temple on Saturday morning to inspect the surroundings and review the ongoing project in detail.

D-Ward Assistant Commissioner Mr. Manish Valanju, Architect Mr. Shashank Mehandale (Advisor for the Mahalakshmi Temple premises), and several trustees of the Mahalakshmi Temple Trust — including Dr. Wheee. Ann, Mr. S. Dandekar, Mr. S. Kambli, and others — were present during the inspection.

The development project aims to enhance the overall experience for devotees and tourists through:

Reconstruction of approach roads and nearby shops and lanes,

Artistic wall paintings along the temple route,

Installation of heritage-style streetlights and street furniture,

Directional signboards for easier navigation,

Beautification of the main road,

Improved crowd management measures, and

Decorative lighting and murals to enrich the temple surroundings.

This initiative is part of BMC’s broader effort to preserve Mumbai’s cultural and religious heritage while enhancing urban aesthetics.
