Mumbai : In Khardi Khurd village of Nandurbar district, women are being forced to climb nearby hills to complete the mandatory e-KYC process under the Ladki Bahin Yojana, due to the lack of mobile network connectivity.
Poor signal strength in the area has made it nearly impossible for residents to access the government portal from their homes. To receive OTPs and complete verification, many women trek up the hills along the Narmada riverbank, often waiting for hours in search of a stable connection.
Even at higher points, the internet remains unstable, causing repeated failures during the registration process. Some women have resorted to tying their phones to tree branches to catch the faint signal.
Locals say the situation has turned a government welfare scheme into a struggle for rural women. They have appealed to authorities to improve network infrastructure or provide offline options for e-KYC verification, ensuring that no beneficiary is left out due to connectivity issues.
