Mumbai : The Maharashtra government has announced key administrative appointments, placing senior IAS officer Sonia Sethi as the new General Manager of the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) Undertaking and Vinita Ved Singhal as the Principal Secretary of the Relief and Rehabilitation (R&R) Department.
The move comes after BEST operated without a full-time GM for nearly nine months, with several interim arrangements following the transfer of former GM Anil Diggikar to Mantralaya. Sethi’s appointment is expected to bring stability to the city’s vital public transport and electricity utility.
Meanwhile, Singhal assumes charge of the R&R Department at a crucial time, as Maharashtra grapples with widespread flooding. She will oversee the state’s relief measures and rehabilitation strategies for affected citizens.
