Nariman Point to Mira-Bhayander in Just 30 Minutes Soon, Says Maharashtra Transport Minister

Mumbai: Daily travel between South Mumbai and the northern suburbs may soon become faster. Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik announced that once the Dahisar-Bhayander coastal highway is completed, the journey from Nariman Point to Mira-Bhayander will take only 30 minutes.

The project gained momentum after the Union Salt Commissioner transferred 53.17 acres of salt land in Thane district to the state government on a 99-year lease. This cleared a long-standing hurdle, paving the way for construction of a 60-metre-wide road.

Estimated at ₹3,000 crore, the project will be executed by L.E.T. Company and completed within three years, with costs covered by the Mumbai Municipal Corporation. The road will connect Dahisar to Bhayander, extend towards Vasai-Virar, and link Mira Road via Uttan.

Sarnaik expressed confidence that the improved connectivity would transform Mira-Bhayander into a major suburb with direct and faster access to South Mumbai. The revised road alignment also addresses concerns raised earlier by the fishing community in Uttan.

For commuters, this development promises shorter travel times and smoother connectivity between the city centre and the extended suburbs.
