Two Members of Iranian Gang Nabbed in Mumbai for Impersonating Police and Committing Fraud

Mumbai : Mumbai Police have arrested two members of an Iranian gang who allegedly posed as police officers to cheat people. The suspects, identified as Zahed Javed Ali Jafari (42) and Kabul Naushad Ali (58), were caught during a patrol near Swami Samarth Temple in Kandivali West on Wednesday morning.

Police recovered a gold chain and fake Delhi Police identity cards from their possession. During interrogation, the duo confessed to being involved in frauds across Maharashtra, Gujarat, and other states.

Officials revealed that the accused are linked to over 25 cases of cheating, impersonation, and theft registered in areas such as Kalachowki, Mahim, Dadar, Dahisar, Dharavi, Santacruz, Kalyan, Andheri, Vile Parle, Meghwadi, Goregaon, Nehrunagar, and even Bardoli in Surat, Gujarat.

The operation was led by DCP Sandeep Jadhav, with senior inspectors and a team from Charkop Police Station. Authorities are now investigating further to trace additional victims and recover stolen valuables.
