MUMBAI : The Maharashtra government has decided to implement a standardized design for all administrative buildings of Municipal Councils and Municipal Panchayats across the state. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced that the new “type plan” has been approved by the Chief Architect of the Public Works Department.
The uniform blueprint considers the staff strength, number of officials, and the population size of each town. Even projects that had previously received approval but are yet to begin construction will now have to follow this standardized model.
For towns that currently lack administrative buildings, the state will prioritize funding to ensure construction is carried out under the new plan.
According to Shinde, the initiative will help meet the growing demands of urbanization, improve grievance redressal, and equip offices with modern facilities including e-governance systems.
