Mumbai : Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis shared fond memories of his first meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as the nation celebrated Modi’s 75th birthday.

Fadnavis said he first met Modi in Nagpur during an “Abhyas Varg” (study workshop) at Reshimbagh, when he was the city’s Mayor and BJP youth wing president. He recalled being deeply impressed by Modi’s simplicity—while other senior leaders stayed in guest houses, Modi chose to live in a modest room at the venue itself.

Reflecting on Modi’s journey as Prime Minister, Fadnavis praised his decisive leadership since 2014, crediting him for pulling the country out of corruption and instability and helping India emerge as the world’s third-largest economy.

He also highlighted key decisions under Modi’s leadership, including the construction of the Ram Temple, the abrogation of Article 370, the ban on triple talaq, and reforms that ensured welfare schemes directly reached citizens.

Fadnavis further noted Modi’s special focus on Maharashtra, pointing to initiatives like the new Mumbai airport, housing projects, and recognition of the Marathi language.

According to Fadnavis, the humility and determination he witnessed in Modi during that first meeting have remained hallmarks of his leadership, inspiring confidence and respect across the country.
