Vasai : A tragic building collapse in Vasai claimed 15 lives after the rear portion of the four-storey Ramabai Apartment on Narangi Road, Virar, came crashing down onto a nearby chawl at around 12:05 AM.
The apartment, reportedly constructed illegally in 2012, collapsed suddenly, trapping several residents. According to officials, 15 people lost their lives while many others sustained injuries.
Rescue operations were launched immediately by the fire brigade and continued through the night to search for survivors and clear debris.
Authorities are investigating the legality of the construction and the exact cause of the collapse.
