Mahant Priya Ranjan Das—a respected leader of the Kabir Panth sect—tragically lost his life in a road accident on the Mumbai–Nagpur National Highway in Jalgaon district’s Erandol taluka, near the Pimpri Budruk turnoff .
Mahant Das was riding pillion on a motorcycle, returning from Bengaluru to Pimpri Budruk, when the vehicle was rear-ended by a speeding truck. The collision proved fatal for him upon impact, while the motorcycle’s rider sustained serious injuries .
The accident also caused temporary traffic congestion along the highway. News of Mahant Das’s sudden passing has deeply affected the Kabir Panth community, prompting widespread mourning .
