MUMBAI: A 27-year-old Ola cab driver, Sahil Shahid Gujjar, was brutally killed in Malwani after a dispute over parking turned violent.
Sahil, who drove a rented cab to support his family, was attacked with a chopper and iron rods by members of an alleged illegal parking mafia when he tried to park his vehicle near his residence.
The assailants, identified as Owais Sheikh and Farooq Sheikh, launched the late-night assault. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Sahil succumbed to his injuries, leaving his family devastated.
Angry locals blamed the unchecked activities of parking mafias and criticized the lack of strong police action. While two suspects are in custody, police continue to hunt for others involved.
Residents are demanding strict measures to break the mafia network and ensure such tragedies do not recur.
