Ahmednagar : In a major breakthrough, the Local Crime Branch (Ahilyanagar) arrested two murder case accused, Akshay Raut and Chandrakant Raut, on August 13, 2025, in Pune’s Phulgaon MIDC area based on secret information.
The duo was involved in the 2018 murder of watermelon trader Hasan Umar Sheikh, whose body was dumped in the Bhima River. They had escaped from Karjat police lockup in 2020 and remained absconding for five years. All accused are now in custody.
