Nagpur : Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis chaired the presentation of ‘Garud Drishti’, an advanced social media monitoring and cyber intelligence project developed by Nagpur Police to tackle online crime and hate content.
Addressing the event, CM Fadnavis said that while social media is a powerful platform for expression, it is also used for spreading hate, racial tension, and illegal activities. The state-of-the-art tool will enable authorities to take immediate action against anti-India content, hate speech, and online fraud. In the future, it will be extended to other police units across Maharashtra.
The police also returned funds saved from cyber fraud to victims, with CM Fadnavis crediting timely complaints and swift police action for preventing losses worth millions of rupees. Citizens were urged to remain vigilant against suspicious calls, messages, or offers and to report fraud to helpline numbers 1930 or 1945.
Highlighting the capabilities of Maharashtra Police, the CM said that despite the rise in cybercrime, every crime leaves behind digital evidence, which police are adept at tracing. He praised the force for its innovation and urged victims to become “ambassadors” in raising public awareness against cybercrime.
